Lean Sigma Improvement Experience PDF Print E-mail

The TSANA Lean Sigma Improvement Experience is a training workshop that will teach attendees how the Principles and Methods applied in such Exemplary Organisations as Toyota, Scania and Tesco can be made to work for you.

Lean Sigma Workshop

The course normally takes place over three consecutive days but four and five day variants are also possible where clients wish expansion of the core model.

At the centre of the course is a real time simulation which the delegates tackle in teams. Each team of six to eight delegates is allocated a separate room in which to work and each member is initially allocated a role within the simulation with his/her own job description. In this room they run the scenario through as many iterations as the course length will allow, their task being to reduce the time taken to respond correctly to a series of complex customer requests.

The theory of Lean Sigma is introduced in short plenary sessions and the delegates retire to their team rooms to apply the theory to the simulation and return to plenary to feed back and share their own experience. The tutor at each stage is careful to draw links between the experience of the delegates within the simulation and their real job roles within their own businesses.

At the commencement of the course the simulation is intentionally chaotic, but even so it is drawn from an actual situation in a real company and delegates recognise many familiar problems from the real world within it. By the time the course is completed and Lean principles and techniques have been applied to reduce waste and identify the value stream, the simulation is entirely different from its original state and response times are spectacularly reduced. However, each team is free to follow its own route to a solution under the watchful eyes of the course tutors and lively competition to achieve the greatest time saving with zero errors is the usual result.

The course is designed to be fun and allows no time to sit and dream. The team aspect of the course allows delivery to all levels of experience and we have mixed master black belts with junior belts with no loss of benefit or enjoyment to either.

Detailed course manuals are provided and delegates are able to take advantage of a period of email support for their own projects following the course.
